Melbourne Swimming Club we would like to congratulate all swimmers, coaches, and parents on an amazing Victorian State Age LC Championships.
In particular, we would like to acknowledge and thank our Head Coach Ian Pope for his commitment and dedication to all our swimmers and parents. To have 45 swimmers qualify for the State Age Championships is an excellent achievement considering the club’s short history.
Ian has been supported by Liam Pope who guided his State & National Target squads to achieve great results, as well as Matt Kearns & Kirsten Porter with their regional training groups respectively.
MSC now have more than 20 swimmers achieving National Times and qualifying for the National Age & National Open Championships in Adelaide over the next few months.
MSC swimmers who gave everything over the 5-day event, an effort they should be proud of. The club’s vision includes developing good people not just good swimmers, and this was proudly demonstrated over the weekend.
We had some outstanding individual results with Luca Brown 118 points, Kaitlin Ord 102 points and Grace Dobie 86 points starring in the Under 12 age group along with Charlize Buna 98 points and Madison Cooper 82 points achieving great results in the Under 17 age group. Sophie Jacka was a standout in the Under 13 age group amassing 95 points.
On the team front, MSC were ranked 4th overall in the club rankings from a total of 85 clubs. This is an incredible success considering we only had 45 swimmers compete and reinforces how talented & hard working we are as a group.
